Newhouse Barton’s position, close to the towns of Newton Abbot and Totnes, makes it an ideal centre from which to explore South Devon. The surrounding area provides a wealth of variety in landscape, from the vast expanse of Dartmoor to the scenic Dart Estuary.

Torquay and Paignton are very popular seaside resorts where boat trips and sea sports prove popular attractions. Paignton has its large zoo and botanical gardens which cover 75 acres.

Neighbouring Torquay, with its palm trees emanates an almost Mediterranean feel, with its spacious harbour alive with colourful yachts and cabin cruisers.

The Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway runs along seven miles of spectacular Torbay coast.

Why not take a boat trip from the pretty naval town of Dartmouth to Medieval Totnes, a train ride from Totnes to Buckfastleigh and then a visit to Buckfast Abbey before returning to Dartmouth.

The picturesque fishing port of Brixham lies quietly serving as England’s major fishing port for 300 years. A fine full-size replica of the Golden Hinde takes its place.
